Money
Cape Verde’s local currency is the Cape Verdean Escudo, although many hotels, restaurants and shops in tourist areas also accept card payments. It’s still a good idea to carry some cash for smaller purchases, local markets or places where card facilities may not be available. Keeping your cash and cards in separate places can also help if one is lost or misplaced during your trip.
Be aware that the Local Escudo can only be obtained within Cape Verde, so you will not be able to find it in any currency exchange shops.
