Cape Verde is a peaceful and safe place to visit. Crime isn’t non-existent, like in any country, but this has come with the territory of being an in-demand tourist destination.
If you are considering a trip or holiday to Cape Verde, there are no major safety precautions we would advise you to take, but as always, we would advise anyone to treat the islands like their own home or country.
Medical Facilities within Cape Verde
Cape Verde is made up of several islands that all have their own level of medical facilities, with the major hospitals being located in Santiago and São Vicente. Smaller medical facilities can also be found across the islands.

Cape Verde Climate & Precautions
There are cautions when it comes to the lovely climate of Cape Verde. As I’m sure many travellers are aware, it can be extremely hot across the islands, and if people are not cautious, dehydration and heatstroke can occur.
We would advise that you keep a bottle of water with you at all times and find shade occasionally to cool down, as temperatures can reach 25°C.
Other potential dangers to be wary of are strong winds or waves. Cape Verde is incredibly popular for surfers, as we are home to some of the best waves in the world, meaning that some beaches can be incredibly dangerous in specific locations.

Cape Verde Transport
If you decide to travel around Cape Verde, taxis hailed from legitimate buildings, such as hotels and airports, are the best way to get around.
